Nagy Gergő

Gergő Nagy began studying the piano because he wanted to imitate his aunt who played the organ at the church in his native town of Tăşnad, Satu Mare County, Romania. He took his first steps in the study of music under the guidance of Dr. Bernadette Czumbil with whom he still keeps in touch and with whom he gave several recitals for 4 hands in 2013 in Romania and abroad. He started high school in 2006 at the „Sigismund Toduta” Music High School in Cluj Napoca in the class of Zoltán Horváth. In 2010 he was admitted first with the highest grade to the „Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy (class of Dr. Adriana Bera). In 2012 he gained an „Erasmus” scholarship to study at the „Haute Ecole de Musique” of Lausanne, Switzerland where he practices the piano under the guidance of pianist and conductor Jean Francois Antonioli. He is presently in his 4th year at the „Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy and at the same time the accompanying pianist of the Hungarian Opera of Cluj Napoca.

He attended master courses with Georg Sava (Germany), Imre Rohmann, Tünde Kurucz, Martin Hughes (Austria), Finghin Collins (Switzerland), Peter Nelson – lied accompaniment (Germany), Balázs Szokolay and Gábor Eckhardt (Hungary).

He has won prizes at several national and international contests, distinctions earned include: The Grand Prize of the Bach Festival (Cluj Napoca, 2009), First Prize at the National Olympiade of Interpreting Music (Bistrita, 2010). In 2011 he won the third prize at the International Piano Contest as part of the „Liszt200” Festival at Cluj-Napoca.

Gergő Nagy has given recitals in Romania and abroad, he was on the stage at Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Târgu-Mureş, Bistriţa, Carei, Arcuş, Budapest (Hungary), Lausanne (Switzerland) and Dürnstein (Austria). He was the soloist of the Satu-Mare Philharmonics and of the „Antonin Ciolan” Orchestra of the „Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy in Cluj Napoca, under the baton of Ştefan Novák and Gheorghe Victor Dumănescu.
