Bonanomi Marc-Antoine

Drawn to jazz music and trained in classical piano, Marc-Antoine Bonanomi studied at the
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich before dedicating himself entirely to his
preferred instrument, the double bass. Having studied with Fritz Widmer, Edgar Kremsa et
Josef Niederhammer, he won second prize in the International Society of Bassists
competition in 1994. He incorporates both elegance and simplicity into his playing style, at
the crossroads between the latin and germanic schools. His current musical activity is
divided between his position as principal double bass with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra (OCL) and his teaching career at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne.
