Alexandru Gavrilovici
The virtuoso violin player is mostly preoccupied by 20th century music, such as Bernd
Alois Zimmermann, Arthur Honegger, Karl Amadeus Hartmann, giving solo performances
of prestigious violin concerts (A. Berg, I. Stravinsky, S. Prokofiev, C. Nielsen, M. Rózsa,
H. Dutilleux, A. Schnittke, D. Shostakovich, B. Britten). As a soloist he has worked
alongside world-renowned conductors including Gustav Kuhn, Peter Maag, Rudolf
Barshai, Witold Rowicki, Dimitri Kitaiynko, Andrey Boreyko, Mario Venzago, Jan Krenz
etc. He has given numerous chamber music recitals, together with Jürg Wyttenbach,
Hans Heinz Schneeberger and other important Swiss musicians. From 1979 to 2013
Alexandru held the position of the first concertmaster at the Bern Symphony Orchestra in
Switzerland. Alexandru Gavrilovici is founder of Academia Sighișoara (1993) and Music
Campus Balchik (2014).
